Skinformation
When you jump to another planet from a Merge transpod, your current body becomes a "Blank." The transpod interface prompts a jumper to select from three options regarding what to do with the blank:
1) Store it: Once "empty," skins are stored in their transpods, to be retrieved when needed. A jumper must pay to store a skin (which will not age while in stasis), so this option is often passed over for the other two. Note: If you are wealthy and powerful enough, you can store multiple skins in locations you frequent (Ambassadors are granted this privilege).
2) "Rent" it: A jumper can relinquish their exclusive rights to a skin, allowing other travelers to use it. Jumping is expensive, and making a skin available to others helps offset the costs.
3) Atomize it: If a jumper will no longer have any use for a skin, but they do not wish to rent it out, they can opt to have the skin destroyed.
The process is different for Creator transpods: Storage and renting are not options. After someone has jumped, the Creator tech reverses the fabrication process, atomically disassembling the body, and returns the organic material to the quantum cloud.
Only Creator transpods can manufacture a skin, and there are only a few on the Discovery Lander of each planet, so having a skin created is expensive and sometimes involves waiting days (or longer) for your turn. Most jumps involve jumping into an available blank in storage. The more you pay, the better the skin you can get.
