Zyzyx

The planet Zyzyxs is thought to be one of the strangest worlds in the known universe. The highly-advanced humanoid race called The Yrz has been on the vanguard of technology for eons. Not only have they augmented their bodies and brains with neural implants, the Yrz infused their planet’s environment with a vaporous A.I. that allowed them to control the weather… until the environment became sentient.

For years now, the Yrz have been at war with their animate, and vindictive, environment. Driven from the planet’s surface by ferocious wind and rain storms, the fugitive techno-race recreated their cities and factories underground where they furiously build robotic soldiers to fight their war with the weather above ground. 

But every time the Yrz believe they are close to regaining control of their planet, the environment strikes them down: a small underground stream wends its way to the Yrz underground, turning into a flash flood. Or a hostile gust of wind finds its way down through the natural fissures, wreaking havoc as it destroys every structure in its path.

Description of Zyzyxs from Nova Orion: “She stood on a cliff overlooking a valley of technological wonder, filled with life perfected by augmentation. Butterflies fluttered like living screenprints composed in neons. Birds warbled tremulous songs recorded and implanted in them from the egg. The world’s canvas combined the broad, sweeping strokes of nature with engineered pointillism. The cities were no less masterpieces of mixed media, the biological and the machine. She watched the respiration of skyscrapers in the distance, their girded lungs giving them a steady, subtle sway.”
