A Transpod (aka Jump Pod) allows a sentient life form to have its consciousness transferred from its body to another destination in the Mass-O network; this could be a jump from the Hub to a skin on a Discovery Lander or vice-versa. This instantaneous process is powered by the Mass-O and somehow involves relaying information through entangled particles at both ends of the operation.

While the discovery of the Mass-O was a godsend in a universe incapable of light speed travel, the quantum process is destructive, degrading the traveler's consciousness with each jump. If one tries to jump into a remote body/skin that is already occupied by a consciousness, then one consciousness or the other (or both) risks total destruction. Generally, jumping is not common and reserved for the elite. If you are connected, wealthy, or both, you can skip the line, and, in the event you're using a transpod built with current tech, enjoy a more luxurious transpod experience. Most entities throughout the Unioverse will never jump in their lifetimes.

Transpods are well-understood tech, and many types have been built to accommodate the different needs of unique cosmic travelers. A transpod must be connected to the Hub or to a Discovery Lander in order to function.

Note: The Merge has added conventional tech to many Creator transpods to serve as security gates; they also use the Creator system to transmit information, but this has no impact on the transpods themselves.

Present Day Transpod: This is the most common and utilitarian choice. They are more readily available (thus, less expensive), and allow for storage, renting one's skin, or atomization.

Creator Transpod: There is no advantage to using a Creator Transpod for a departure. As a result, they are used for this purpose only when there are no other options (in a Lander on an isolated planet, for example).

Present Day Transpod: These are more prevalent, so often used for arrival, but they are limited to pre-existing skins. Thus, a jumper must either rent a skin or use one that they previously stored at the destination site.

Creator Transpod: Because they can create skins, Creator Transpods are in high demand. If a jumper wants a specific skin (either a clone or another species from their stored collection), they must use a CT.

• The first trip from a newly operational Discovery Lander on a recently connected world HAS to be to the Hub. At that point, other destination worlds are unlocked for the traveler.

• Transpods will not extract and transmit a consciousness without a skin on the other side. It is not possible for a consciousness to get lost in the system or be stored in an external source (like a hard drive).
