Sinfed Reyu
Fundamental Attributes: Stoic, Introspective/philosophical/spiritual, Preternatural (awareness), Bold/confident, Lone wolf/self-sufficient, Lethal (dispassionately deadly in combat)
When Malcolm Orion explored The Hub after his arrival reactivated the war-torn station, he discovered a damaged transpod buried in wreckage. Inside the pod was a massive alien being -- still alive! -- whose body and mind had been in stasis for millennia. After Servitors removed the debris, the transpod returned to full power, and the being's consciousness was finally able to "gel" and fully reunite with his body. When it finally regained consciousness, it remembered almost nothing other than his name: Sinfed Reyu (Rye-YOU).
Over time, some memories returned: Reyu hails from the Ja'din (The Hunters), one of the fabled Origin 5 races that ruled The Hub during the First Cycle. The Ja’din evolved to be the ultimate predators, from their heightened senses to asexual reproduction, allowing them to self-spawn when dying (an ability that played a role in Reyu’s miraculous survival within the transpod). The Ja’din are also an “assimilator” species that claims advantageous genetic sequences from conquered foes to integrate with their DNA; Reyu himself appears to be comprised of at least twenty-seven different species, and the assimilated sequences have provided a number of useful augmentations R1VZVVNTS1RLQklFS05CUkpOR1ZHVUNLSkZCVEtVQldJRklEQ01DREdWSE RNT0JZR05HRUlTQ1JHNDJFNlFTTklRMlU0VEtQS0JCRVdOQlJLSTNFU1UyU0hGQ0ZJVFJTSjQ0REdNS0RJUkVFMlFLU0dNMlVLT0tISlk0RkFRUlVHUVlVV05TQko1QkVHUkJWSlkzRUtPQlNLSkNEQ1IyTko1SUVRTUNGSkJGVE1RSllHTkVVR1RDSUpWS1ZJU1JWSVU0VkdTSlFLUVpUU1JDTUpGR0ZDUVJSR0JCVEtUUldIQTRER1MyRUdGRVVTTUNQSUlaRUlOS05HWkVWSU0yUUdRWVZDTlNWSEFaVEtSQ1FKRTNVQ1UyS0dVMkRDVUpXSUZKRUVSMkRKUklETU1TVUdOR0VLT0tKSkVZRkFRU1BJVkVGQU5TQktKQkRLUktESk5FVklPQlE=.
One result of such extensive assimilation is that only Reyu’s consciousness is equipped to exist within his skin; over the years, several attempts have been made to clone his body, but every consciousness that jumped into a cloned Reyu skin immediately succumbed to jump sickness. Following his revival, Reyu’s skills steadily returned: he possesses exceptional strength, speed and stamina, along with the heightened senses of a predator (he’s able to see in low light, track targets via smell, and sense fear in his prey). Like a coiled snake, Reyu is exceptionally patient, but when he strikes he is merciless and driven by ages of instinct. While it would appear all Ja’din were hunters, Reyu was clearly a legend among his people: the Ja'din area of the Hub contains a vast collection of hieroglyphs that tell the story of a mighty hunter known as “Reaper Reyu.”
While Reyu’s revived body eventually returned to peak form, his mind remained compromised: his consciousness had been in limbo for hundreds of thousands of years, which explains why he remembers so little about who he and the Ja’din were, what the Origin 5 races were like, and what happened to cause the Great Fracture. For Reyu, it feels like his consciousness has been scattered across the cosmos for millennia… but under the right circumstances, when he jumps, he regains pieces of his lost memory.
Those “right circumstances” are connected to his personal moral code. Reyu sees himself as a champion, defender, and protector of The Creators and all that they designed. Anything that threatens The Hub, the transpod system, or other Creator Tech (Discovery Landers, Servitors, etc.) is a danger that must be dealt with immediately. This often involves the use of violence, but Reyu only kills when he must; those who fall by his hand are, to him, an evil that must be eliminated. Despite the harsh reality that he is a dealer of death, Reyu fervently believes that when he is of pure intent, when he does what he must to serve The Creators, some of the mist that enshrouds his memories dissipates and another part of him returns. All of these fragments are tantalizing clues to SVZFRVdOU0JIQVpUUVJCVktCSERRVVNTSkZERElSWldLVklFUU1DQkpCRlRNUU pZR0k0RUtUQ0lHSkhUUU0yT0lRWVVPVFJZSEFaVTRRWlZLQVpEQVVTU0pFMkRDU0NOR0pLREdNS0RJUkdUT1NLVEtKQ0RJTUtJSlVaRklRU0tJTkdFU01SUUtRWlRRUTJMSTQyRUtVMktHVkJUS1VKU0dCRUVVU0tER1ZFRTRPQ1VJSkVVR1MyTkdJWUZJTVpZSU5GVU9OU0JKNUJFU1JDSUpOR1VDVTJTSk0yRENTMk5LTkpWRU9LREtSRlRPT0NUS0FZRUlOS09HNDRGRVVCUUlWRUVXTlNCSEFaRUlRWlZLQkhETVFTQklZMkRDUjJOS05JRENNQ0ZKQkZUTVFKWUdJWlVLT0tKSlVaRklNMkdJVTRWQVNKUUtRWlRRUTJNSlZIRE1VQ0NJTkNWQVNLT0daQkVRTUE=. But none of these matter to Reyu; he wants only to uncover his past. Who were the Ja’din? Do any others remain? What planet did he once call home?
Given Reyu’s abilities, and the fact that Zero Hour appears to have no impact on him, he became the Merge military’s secret weapon, jumping into hot zones and bringing an end to innumerable conflicts, sometimes single-handedly. Over time, though, as more of his memories have resurfaced, SUU0VVNUU0pLUTRUQVJCUkk1SERNT0JUSkZCVVlVQ05KRkpWRVMyREp SRVRFTUNQSkkyVUlOS09HWkNUUU1aVElSS0U0TlpZS05GRU1SQ0lKVTNFQ1VCUkdCQlRLVFJXSEE0REdNMkVLUkdVMlVLUElKQ1VHU0NKSlU0RUVNSlFJTTJVNE5SWUhBWlVTUTJNSkkzVUNVMlNHVkJVT1JaWEhCSkZBTUNESEZFVVNNQ1BIRVlFS1NDT0pWS1ZFTUpRSVZFRTRTSlFLQVpVTVJDTUpOR1ZHVDJDSk5CVVdSWldLVkpVUU1DRUtSSFRPTUNUSkkyVUtSQ1FKRkpUUU1SVklWSUVTVEtUS1FaVVlRWlZKVTNFNlZKWklNMkRDU1pXSUU0REdNU0RKUkZFMk1TU0pBWUVLU0NPSkVZRkFNWlZJTklGR1NKUUtFWlRTUktESTQzRU9UMkNJVkJVUVRKV0lGSlVVU1JVR0ZKRTJSMlFJSkNUSU1LTEdaRVZHVUJRSVJHRVdUUldLTkpEU1JDVUpZM1RNT0JUSlpCVVlVQldJRTRER01LRUtCSVRNU0tVR000RUdUQ1JHWkVVNlVSUklSRFVPTlpZS0pJREFSQlJKTkhETU9CVElSQ0ZJVUJXR0pKRENNQ0RJUkhFMk9DUUhGQlRJTUtISlZKVkFNSlFJVkVFV05TQktORkRLTkJSS0pHVEVVMlFHQkNFUVMyT0hCS0RHUTJESk5EVE9PQ1JHTVlVS1IySEdZM0ZFVVNNSVJFRVNNUlFKNUZES05CUkpFM0ZLVVNLR1UyRENVSldLVTRER1NTRkpCSEU0TUJZR000RUlOS05KRkpUUU1SUklSSUZHVEtWS0pGREtOQlJLSkdVT1VTUUdCQ1VRVUJXSkZJRUVOQlVHRklVNE5TVUlJWVVJU0NORzVFVFFNWlZJUklFU05TQktBWVRBUktNSjRaREFVQlRHVkJUS1NKU0tN.
At the point that we first meet Reyu within the current Unioverse timeline, he has gone rogue; he works only for himself, and he jumps from system to system, hoping to unlock the memories that will answer the questions haunting him. Equally respected and feared, he still undertakes Merge military missions when Leader Olen Gray contacts him, SU00VkNUUllIQVpVTVJDUUpVM1VTT0J USlpDRENTS05LTTRER1MyRUdGRVVTTUNSSkpERUdPQ0hHWVpGRU1aWklOS0U0TlpXSEFaVTRSQlZLRTNFT09CVEhCQ0RLVUNKR0JIVVVOS0VKQkZVMlFLUUpKRkRJTUtISlZKVkFNSlFJTktGQU5TQko1QkVXUTJNS0FaREFVWlRKUkNUU1RaV0tWSlZFTkpYSU5EVE1RS1VKSTJVSVQySEc0NEZDTVpWSVJIVTJNUlFLRVpUS05CUkpWR1RFVkpaR0JDRkFUU09IQTRER01LRElSRUUyVktTSUpEVUlTQ0xKWTNGQ01KUUlWRUVXTlNCSEFaVE9SQ1VJNUdVNk9CVEpOQ0RDU0tKR0JLRkVNS0dHUkRUTVIyUklKRkRJTUtMR1laRkVTUlVJUkVFU1RSVUtOSURBUkJSSTVIRUdVQlpHQkJUS1VDTkpWSUVFTkJVR0ZGVE1TS1NIRVlFS1NDT0k0. He’s a lone wolf, rigid in his beliefs, and beholden only to himself, his faith in The Creators, and his desire to once again see the skies of the planet that his ancestors called home.
Race: Ja’din (The Hunters), an Origin 5 race
Abilities: Physical prowess, strength and speed. Great sense of smell, is able to use it to track a target, and can tell when someone is nervous/deceptive.
Weaknesses: After millennia trapped within a transpod, Reyu now has a deep-seated fear of confined spaces. This makes him reluctant, even hesitant to jump unless absolutely necessary; he spends most of his time in isolation, waiting for opportunities to unearth more clues about his homeworld. He also possesses a primal fear of water; his genetic profile (the parts of his DNA helix that remain pure Ja’din) suggests that his race evolved in an arid climate. This has led Reyu to believe that he should focus his search on desert planets.
Persona: Reyu has become highly spiritual during his long journey and is now, for all intents and purposes, a warrior monk. He is quiet, confident, and very experienced, having lived for thousands of years. His perspective is shaped by his extended lifespan; he often surprises the few people who meet him more than once with his philosophical and contemplative view of the Unioverse.
